Our Category Manager – Companion Animal is moving overseas and so we are looking for a new member to join our Merchandising Team at Farmlands.
Companion Animal is an engaging and challenging category providing products for those we consider part of the family. You’ll be managing top brands and products that make a genuine difference for our customers. With suppliers to coach and train you on their products, this is a role where category knowledge initially is not as important as first-rate category management skills. Farmlands also has a strong supply chain allowing you to focus on the category management.
The day to day includes:
- Developing category plans and strategies for the development and inclusion of innovative and sustainable product items for Farmlands.
- Identifying market needs and opportunities
- Overseeing all commercial engagements with nominated vendors
- Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to support the achievement of planned category sales growth
- Using technology and maintain and ensure compliance with systems and data to identify customer insights and to assist informed decision making

Mōhou ake | About you
A skilled category manager, you’ll have a track record of developing strategy, achieving results, surpassing targets and generating commercial innovative ideas. You’ll also need:
- Large scale buying experience in a category related role preferably within FMCG or a retailer
- Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to effectively mine data and derive actionable insights
- Strong account management, relationship building and client servicing skills
- A creative and curious nature, with the ability to effectively problem solve
- An understanding of companion animal and health/flea retail is desirable but not essential
