Cybersecurity and IT Risk Lead
Lead the enterprise cyber risk strategy and security program, aligning to cybersecurity best practices, frameworks and standards

We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Cybersecurity and IT Risk Lead to shape and drive our enterprise-wide cybersecurity and risk management program. This pivotal role is responsible for leading the cyber risk strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance and embedding secure-by-design principles across our technology landscape. You’ll work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to establish a strong cyber governance framework aligned to global best practices—while ensuring local compliance with New Zealand’s regulatory environment, including the NZ Privacy Act 2020.
Other responsibilities include:
- Leading the development and execution of our cybersecurity strategy, targeting alignment with NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) 2.0 and maintain a multi-year maturity improvement roadmap.
- Owning and operating the enterprise IT risk management program, integrating it with broader enterprise risk and internal audit functions.
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and privacy obligations including ISO/IEC 27001:2022, the NZ Privacy Act 2020 and NZISM where applicable.
- Overseeing security operations and incident response, managing threat detection, response playbooks and incident resolution metrics (MTTD/MTTR).
- Driving secure architecture and cloud security standards across Azure, AWS and GCP, while owning Identity & Access Management practices.
Mōhou ake | About you
- At least 10 years of cybersecurity/IT risk experience including building programs aligned to cybersecurity best practice, frameworks and standards.
- Deep knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS, GCP), IAM, incident response, vulnerability management and third‑party risk; familiarity with CIS Controls v8.
- Thorough understanding of the New Zealand regulatory context.
- Desirable certifications: CISSP, CISM, CRISC/CGEIT, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer/Auditor; vendor cloud certifications.
