Looking for a role where you can combine commercial trading, market insight and meaningful relationships across the rural sector? This is it.
We’re searching for a Grain Trader to manage the buying and trading of grain and pulses across the Canterbury region. This role spends time both in the field and at our support office based in Christchurch. You’ll play a key role in ensuring Farmlands has the right supply at the right time while supporting growers, field teams, and industry partners to make informed decisions.
In this role, you will:
Manage the buying and trading activities for grains and pulses in the Canterbury region to meet demand for the co-op's own feed mill use and also sales to farmer-shareholders and for external trade end user buyers.

Monitor domestic markets daily, analyse trends and identify risks, opportunities and pricing movements.
Provide market insights and contract options to Farmlands' field teams and growers.
Work closely with our grain logistics team and support the co-ordination of delivery of grain sales/purchases.
Support new market development and identify opportunities to grow Farmlands’ presence.
Champion Farmlands’ reputation in grain trading and lead our presence at industry events.
