What did you want to do career-wise when you left school?
I’ve always been fascinated by people and what influences their decisions. After school, I pursued Marketing because I wanted to combine my passion with real impact. What truly intrigued me was how brands position themselves in a global market and adapt to industry shifts. This deepened my passion for marketing—understanding how businesses connect with their audiences, navigate change, and create compelling brand experiences. After completing my studies, I knew I wanted to be part of a dynamic organization that continuously evolves to meet market demands.

With over two decades of experience in supply chain planning, merchandise management, and inventory optimization, I have developed a strong track record of driving efficiency and strategic growth across retail and distribution industries. Currently, as a Supply Planner at Farmlands Co-operative Society, I play a key role in ensuring seamless supply chain operations, enabling business growth and resilience.
Prior to this, I spent five years at Kathmandu as a Merchandise Allocation & Replenishment Manager, where I led inventory strategies to enhance stock availability and drive sales. My career has spanned leadership roles at New Zealand Post, Smiths City, No1 Fitness, and Crane Distribution NZ Ltd, where I honed my expertise in demand planning, team leadership, and business strategy.
Starting my career in South Africa, I gained extensive experience in merchandise planning and supply chain management at Edcon, Ellerines Holdings, and HiFi Corporation, managing complex inventory portfolios and optimizing stock flow. What would your advice be for someone who's interested in a career in your area at Farmlands?
For someone interested in a career in supply planning or supply chain management at Farmlands, my advice would be to start by gaining a solid foundation in business, logistics, and data analysis. Having a strong understanding of inventory management, demand forecasting, and supplier relationship management is crucial.
In addition to technical knowledge, developing strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills is vital. Supply planning often involves working cross-functionally, so being able to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external partners is key to success.
